MYANMAR JADE

Myanmar (Burmese) jade is actually jadeite. It owes its magnificent hues to the presence of impurities or metallic ions. Without them, jadeite would be colorless or white, with a milky appearance. Specimens of intense green get their color from the iron they contain. Purple varieties contain manganese. Burma (now Myanmar) is renowned for producing some of the most beautiful and highest quality jade in the world.

LITHOTHERAPY

Present in a multitude of cultures across the world, jade is a powerful symbol to which many psychic properties have been attributed. This gem has long been perceived as a natural source of wisdom and appeasement. Often described as a spiritual stone, jade contributes to the appeasement of the senses, tranquility, and harmony between people. Jade has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. People who wish to turn to lithotherapy can use this gem to treat kidney or urinary problems. This stone is also known to be a lucky charm that brings abundance to its wearer!

ETYMOLOGY Of Spanish origin, when it was discovered by the conquistadors of the New World in the 15th century: they named it "piedra de ijada", meaning "loin stone". According to the beliefs of Mesoamerican peoples, this mineral could be used to treat pains affecting the kidneys. It was also used to treat kidney colic. This property is the origin of the Latin name "lapis nephriticus". The etymology of the stone therefore testifies to a very ancient use for its medicinal virtues. In France, the stone became known and used from the 17th century. A direct translation of the Spanish name, it was then called "éjade", before losing its initial vowel over time. The name "jade" then became established in different languages.
